Home Away from Home is an immersive exhibition of sewing and sculpture that asks visitors the question: How have stories of home shaped you? Chau explores a journey of healing through decolonization by reconnecting with her roots and ancestors in a variety of mediums. During open studio hours, visitors can contribute stories about ancestry and home to the work in progress.

Monyee Chau is a Taiwanese/Cantonese American artist. Chau has received a BFA from Cornish College of the Arts, multiple Pilchuck scholarships, Cornish’s Art Merit scholarship, nominations to the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture, and the Corning award. Her work has been featured in The New York Times. She has exhibited and curated widely in Seattle.

Dates

April 3 – 18 Open Studio: Hours Wed/Fri 6-8 pm, Sun 12-5.

April 20 Artist’s reception and event 6-8 pm.

April 21 – 28 Gallery open by appointment, Saturday 2-7 pm and Sunday 12-5 pm. Contact gallery about overnight stays! $25 per night
